Question: Where did you get the idea for this story?
Amber: I was reading a book on writing and it was filled with ideas to get the creative juices flowing.
One of the suggestions listed in the book gave me the idea for the twin brothers. The characters themselves took it from there.
They are the ones who write the book, not myself. I am simply the tool for the writing. A puppet so to speak and the characters
are the strings. Sometimes I don't agree with the character and have to step in but usually I let them create the story.
Question: How long did it take you to write this book?
Amber: Off and on for about two years. I stopped for a little while because I was stuck on a few scenes
and then a close friend of mine read it for me. She made a couple suggestions and took me out of the dead end I was in.
Thank you, Ness!
Question: Where did the characters come from?
Amber: As for all my books, the people around me. I take a little from everyone. A name from one person,
a personaltiy from another, and so on. Some names I get from dreams or just hearing them from somewhere but a lot of them
I get from people I actually know. I've always liked the name Matthew so he was the name I chose for the main character.
Question: Was it easy or hard to write this type of book?
Amber: I would really have to say both on that one. The easy part was seeing the scenes in my mind. I have
always been a visual person so that hasn't been a problem for me. The hard part was actually finding the right words to say
what I saw in my mind. It took a while to get each scene just right, and then I would move on to the next scene. Some scenes
were a little easier than others.
Question: Do you plan on writing other books similar to this one?
Amber: Normally, I don't plan a book until the idea hits me, some harder than others. [she laughs here].
I do believe though, that I will be writing more books similar to this one with a different feel to the story. I did enjoy
the time I took on the book and I have a book started that didn't feel right so it will be changed to allow this genre. That
one will be fun. [Amber laughs again].
Question: Who would you say the audience is?
Amber: It defenitly has to be Mature Adults due to the explicit scenes. It is mostly women who reads this
type of genre, in my opinion, but I believe men will enjoy it just as much. A few people who have read it already agree. One
of which, was a man.
Question: Why this genre?
Amber: Why not? Sex sells. It has been proven over and over by countless authors. It's found in movies everywhere
too. It is in pretty much every household. This is an estimated guess, of course. I just felt this story called for a little
spice, with everything nice mixed in with the story line. It wasn't something that happened over night but it did work itself
into the story and I liked how it was turning out.
Question: When you recieved your first rejection for this story, how did you feel?
Amber: I had mixed emotions. I wanted to grab them at the neck and say, "hey are you stupid or something.
This is a good story." But then I realized it was a good thing because the right publisher is out there and this one wasn't
it. I wanted to be committed to a publisher with a long term relationship and I guess this company didn't want that. The first
rejection is always the hardest to get through. A good writer will chalk it up to experience under the belt and keep trying,
whether the piece is good or not. Some publishers may see the silver lining in that story and find a way to help the writer
improve it to be that best seller.
Question: When you did recieve the acceptance letter, how did you feel?
Amber: Well, over joyed. That isn't really the right word to explain how I felt. I just can't find the right
word to explain how happy I was. I wanted to burst and just tell everyone about it and I pretty much did. [she laughs here].
This is my second book to be published and I'm still in shock over it all. It's like a big dream that I just don't want to
wake up from. I like the dream too much.
Question: What would you like to say to all the aspiring writers out there?
Amber: Don't give up on your dream, first of all. Just remember me. I dreamed of becoming a published author
at the age of 11 and kept pushing through the "you can't do it", "you'll never make any money with it so get a real job",
to things I don't even want to repeat. I didn't listen to those people because I knew I could write. I'm like a totally different
person when I'm writing. I'm in control of who I am and where I want to be. I don't have that control over life. Because I
never gave up, my lifelong dream came true and it can really happen to anyone. You just can't give up on yourself, no matter
what the dream is. So pursue the dream, first. Second, read and learn. Try new things when you can so there is something else
you can write about. They say write what you know, this will widen your knowledge. Always try to improve your writing while
you continue to write. Writers write just as a painter paints and the singer sings. You can't give up, you have to work on
improving the skills, and you must write.
